Classmates.com trimmed its staff this week by 71 positions, about 17 percent of its global workforce.The cuts at the
Renton-based social networking site were part of a 5 percent overall reduction in force at Woodland Hills, Calif.-based United Online, which owns Classmates, Juno, NetZero, FTD and other units.

RENTON, WA (KPLU) - Most Boeing workers aren’t surprised by the news that the company is putting its second assembly line for the 787 in South Carolina. But the decision not to put it in here in Everett left many shocked, angry and worried about the company’s future.
Outside the Machinists union hall in Renton, a group of Boeing workers - some current, others retired - came together for a political meeting. But their conversation focused on the company’s unprecedented decision: to start building planes in South Carolina.

Boeing Co. said Norwegian Air Shuttle has ordered six 737-800 airplanes worth a total of between $435 million and $486 million at list prices.

First Financial Northwest Inc. of Renton posted a third quarter net loss of $1.7 million on Wednesday as it continues to work through millions of dollars in bad commercial real estate loans. The bank has lost $28.5 million in the first nine months of this year.

Boeing and the Navy will officially roll out the Navy’s next maritime patrol aircraft in a ceremony Thursday at Renton, Wash.
Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead and Washington Gov. Christine Gregoire will speak at the event, which will feature the third flight test aircraft to be delivered.
